A new musical adaptation of “The Sting” is aiming for Broadway, with Harry Connick, Jr. at the forefront.
The musical, directed by John Rando, will have its world premiere the Paper Mill Playhouse from March 29, 2018 through April 29, 2018. Bob Martin is the book writer, with music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis with Connick Jr.
The Araca Group and Matthew Gross Entertainment are producing the show, by special arrangement with Universal Theatrical Group.
The show, which is described in the press release as “Broadway-bound,” is choreographed by Warren Carlyle.
A film version of “The Sting” was released in 1973, with a story that takes place in 1936 Chicago, where two con men plan to bring down a corrupt racketeer in the city.
